SkinMedica's Age Defense Retinol Complex .25 is formulated to renew the skin's tone and texture without irritating the skin. Retinol helps combat the signs of premature aging while magnolia bark extract soothes inflammation. Ideal for use twice a week to build tolerance to formula.

Apply in the evening after cleansing and toning and before applying your moisturizer. If a retinol product has never been used before, begin twice a week 2-3 days apart, gradually increasing frequency to every other night, and then advancing to each evening or as tolerated. Apply to the entire face. Avoid getting in eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.
Caution: Do not use if you are pregnant, lactating or planning to become pregnant. Mild redness, peeling and irritation are expected when using this product. Use daily sun protection with SPF 30 or higher and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week following discontinuation.

Caused me Breakouts
Maybe I am the only one experiencing breakouts with this product?!! It caused me (whiteheads) breakouts! I have dry skin and some times will have one acne for my monthly cycle! and that's it! but after using this product ( first twice weekly, and then every other night for a month of trial) I experienced horrible breakouts that I have never experienced! I also never experienced any peeling with this product and I think I had to and initial peeling means its working. But I have not experienced any peeling! I contacted SkinMedica and they were skeptical if the product that I received were fresh or expired. It has not been expired though, but maybe was not fresh? They recommended me to stop using the product and contact Dermstore.com. Dermsotore customer service immediately sent me the return label and I am going to return it! After stopping to use the product, breakouts stopped!

Best retinol
I have been struggling to find a strong enough retinol product that is effective yet rejuvenating for the skin. It may dry you out a little bit but I do have sensitive skin. If you put on some Vitamin C serum after you will be just fine. I've only been using it a few weeks as my skin needs to be build up a tolerance. But I am starting to notice the fine lines, especially around my eyes and mouth starting to go away. I am 26 years old, I make tons of facial expressions and want to stay natural and wrinkle free as long as possible. I strongly recommend this product. SkinMedica is truly amazing with their products, and they have the science to back it up. This is a great product for first time retinol users. You will not be disappointed, just give it time!

Great start to a Retinol regimen
The .25 is a great place to start with retinol. Your skin will adjust to it and you can see the difference it makes. I have since moved up to a higher concentrate of it and I definitely notice if I have skipped a few nights without it. Scent is hardly noticeable, texture is soothing! Highly recommend!

Gentle retinol good for first time usage
I started using 0.25 strength skinmedica retinol about 8 months ago. It is mild and causes minimal irritation and peeling in the beginning when the skin is trying to get acclimated to retinoids. Absorbs well. It has made my oily skin less oily and smoother. A little goes a long way. Will last 3 to 4 months, even if used daily.
