SkinMedica's Age Defense Retinol Complex 0.5 enhances the skin's texture to promote a brighter, more youthful complexion. Formulated for skin tolerant to retinol treatments, it stimulates collagen production and enhances faster cell renewal to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Algae extract ensures skin is soft, hydrated and protected against free-radical damage.

Apply a single pump to face in the evening. If you have never used a retinol product before, begin by limiting use to twice a week, gradually increasing frequency to every other night, and then advancing to each evening or as tolerated. Mild redness, peeling and irritation is expected when using this product. Use daily sun protection with SPF 20 or higher during use of this product. Avoid getting in eyes. If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.
CAUTION: Do not use if you are pregnant, lactating or planning to become pregnant.

Seems to work pretty well
I have only been using this product for a few weeks and only every other day due to my skin being a little sensitive. It can be a little drying/irritating when I start trying to use it every day so I've had to mix it with a moisturizer. I haven't seen the results I was hoping for yet. It's probably still a little too early to tell. I just finished the .25 strength in the same brand and really liked it so I decided to try the next strength up.

Very effective!
This is my first time getting serious about using retinol and this formula is really effective. It took me awhile to get adjusted to the strength, but I have worked up to nightly usage, and I am seeing major improvements on my face. I have acne scars, melasma from sun damage, and larger pores. I also have sensitive skin and with patience this has proved to work very well with my sensitivity. I have never gotten complements on my complexion, but I recently had friends take notice! I am more comfortable going out with only sunscreen on than I ever was in my 20's when I was I wasn't taking very good care of my skin. Once this runs out I am ready to upgrade to the 1%. I recommend applying small dots to each area of your clean/dry face and rub it into each impacted area - this is definitely not a more is better product! Be sure to moisturize well after it has absorbed for several minutes. Don't forget your quality physical sunscreen everyday as retinol makes you more sun-sensitive and you don't want to reverse your progress. I mentioned physical sunscreen because there are many studies that show chemical sunscreens exasperate melasma and hyperpigmentation.
